I woke up at 7! Nice, calm, sunny morning - in the 40s though! But didn't take long to warm up. I was pretty hungry, so had a snack right away, then dad was awake and we had a lovely hour of sipping coffee and chatting in the quiet, sunny, parking lot. The rest of the morning was pretty leisurely, then dad headed back to visit friends in Colorado, and Rudy and I sought out a place to relax for the day. We ended up just off Guardman Pass Road - popular for Sunday Drives.
Yeah, I guess this is a nice road for sightseeing |
But a decent place to refuel and laze around. I started trying to write down the good stuff I could remember from the Wasatch experience - so much! It may take awhile...We had lentils and rice for dinner. We noticed a campervan checking out parking spots and Rudy went over to say hi. The guy had just bought the van today after pacing a friend at Wasatch yesterday. So there was a couple hours of looking at our van and talking about cool places to check out for running and biking in the southwest - he had recently moved to Cortez, CO, so we will probably hook up again when we get to that area - nice to get more local knowledge! Our evening was completed by starting Game of Thrones Season 4.

I didn't sleep quite so well tonight - replaying a lot of the race I guess! Still not feeling too bad in the morning though. We heard a little rain and wind overnight, but really couldn't tell in the morning, in fact it was sunny and warm! We took the time make hot beverages and breakfast, then headed into Park City for some groceries, an easy ride, and checking out of bike shops. We stopped at Matt Knoop Park and spent about half an hour putzing on flat trails - nice to move the legs, but half an hour was about all I could handle.
Plenty of flat trails in and around Park City |
The park's soccer field was a nice spot to do a little yoga, which felt fantastic! Then off to bike shops. Pretty much all the bike stuff was 30-50% off - making way for ski season. We each bought full fingered gloves and Rudy bought some parts too. We headed back to our spot for some chilling out/Wasatch journaling, made some Mac 'n Cheese with jalepenos and broccoli, and got in more GOT.

A coolish morning - hot beverages again! Rudy went for a pretty significant bike ride of an approximate 28 mile loop, including some of my Wasatch race course! He was a little tired yet (and we are still over 9,000 ft.), but still enjoyed himself. I typed and snacked all day - putting up ~8 pages of crazy race remembrance! The cool, breezy day started with some sun, but eventually clouds came in and some rain started just as Rudy was finishing his ride. We made up some pasta for dinner and continued on the GOT journey.
